About Us
Our Story
Before starting Simple Glass Pipe, I worked in a warehouse for another company selling glass products. I remember looking at some of the pieces and thinking the prices were much higher than they needed to be for the quality customers were getting. That stayed with me. I kept thinking there had to be a way to sell good glass at a fairer price without treating every customer like they were buying something from a luxury store.
That idea eventually became Simple Glass Pipe. We started the business in Houston, Texas, in 2009 with a simple goal. Offer practical glass pipes and smoking accessories at fair prices, stand behind what we sell, and treat customers the way we would want to be treated ourselves.
Starting From a Garage in Missouri City
We did not begin with investors, a big warehouse, or a national operation. We started small, working out of the garage of a roughly 1,500-square-foot home in Missouri City, just outside Houston. At that time, the country was still recovering from the 2008 financial crisis, so starting a small retail business did not exactly feel like perfect timing.
What we had was time, persistence, and a willingness to learn the business piece by piece. We learned what customers actually wanted, which products arrived with problems, how glass needed to be packed, and which suppliers were worth ordering from again. A lot of that knowledge came from mistakes, damaged shipments, customer questions, and simply handling the same kinds of products year after year.
Growing Through Changes We Never Expected
Over the years, we have seen a lot change in Houston and across the country. We have worked through economic slowdowns, Gulf Coast hurricanes, major changes in online shopping, changing regulations, supply shortages, and rising costs. Some years were easier than others, but small businesses rarely get a perfectly smooth road.
The COVID-19 period was especially difficult. Like many businesses, we dealt with temporary closures, delayed shipments, inventory shortages, and products that suddenly took weeks or even months longer to arrive. Customers were often waiting on the same supply chains we were waiting on, and we appreciated the patience many people showed during that time.
After the pandemic, shipping, packaging, inventory, utilities, and other operating costs continued to rise. USPS and other carriers also increased rates repeatedly. We could not control those costs, but we kept trying to keep our prices practical instead of passing every increase directly to customers.
What Years of Selling Glass Taught Us
The longer we stayed in this business, the more we realized that selling glass is not only about finding products that look good in photos. You start noticing the details that cause real problems. A thick pipe can still have a weak joint. A beautiful attachment is useless if the customer buys the wrong size. A product that looks great in a supplier photo may arrive with uneven welds or poor packaging.
Those experiences changed the way we choose products and write about them. Today, we pay much more attention to construction, joint sizes, replacement availability, packing, and the kinds of questions customers repeatedly ask us. If the same problem keeps showing up, we do not just call it bad luck. We look at the product and decide whether it still belongs in the store.
Still a Family-Operated Business
Simple Glass Pipe is still a family-operated company based in Houston, Texas. We are not the biggest online smoke shop, and we have never tried to pretend otherwise. We would rather be known for practical products, fair pricing, fast handling, and customer service that comes from people who actually know the products being sold.
Every order still matters to us. Behind every package is someone who chose our store instead of hundreds of other websites, and we do not take that lightly. When something arrives damaged or a customer orders the wrong part, we know those problems are not just order numbers on a screen. They are real frustrations that need a real answer.
Why We Keep Doing It
A lot has changed since the early days in the garage, but the original idea has stayed pretty much the same. We still believe customers should be able to buy useful glass products without paying unnecessary markups, and we still believe honest descriptions are better than exaggerated marketing.
We have made plenty of changes over the years, and we will keep making more. Products change, shipping changes, suppliers change, and the way people shop online changes. The goal is not to stay exactly the same. The goal is to keep improving without forgetting why we started.
To everyone who has supported Simple Glass Pipe through the years, thank you. Your orders, reviews, questions, complaints, and suggestions have all helped shape the business into what it is today.
We are still here in Houston, still learning, and still trying to give customers good value and dependable service.
